Children grow and time flies so quickly, especially at the newborn stage! The best time for squishy nudie newborn photography is in their first 2 weeks, so why not get in touch for a combined maternity and newborn package in the last few months of pregnancy!
For families with babies and older children, NOW is definitely the time to create some memories for you to keep forever!
Thinking about booking a shoot? Download my Shooting for Success Guide here to give you a little bit more information about how it all works and common questions about what a shoot is like with me session.
My style is vibrant and emotional and I focus not only on the beautiful big sparkly eyes of your child, but also on the connection between you and your family. My clients are relaxed and trendy and I love capturing natural, candid and genuine images that show true emotion.
My photos sessions are fun and often silly and focus around tickle sessions, singing, playing and talking with you and your children. I’ll give directions to steer the shoot but you won’t ever hear me telling your children to pose or smile. I am a fairly laid back person and I want you to be relaxed so that I can create moments in time for you to look back on and treasure.
There is no time limit placed on the session. You can expect the session to last between 1-1.5 hours depending on the age of the children.
What Should We Wear?
I want you to be as prepared as possible, so prior to your session, you will be sent a session guide, with ideas about what to wear and how to get the most out of your session. I even include some colour palette suggestions with ideas of how to mix and match the whole family’s wardrobe in a coordinated but not matching uniform way!
I encourage you to bring props and outfit changes especially for the children, as it means you have a wide variety of images to choose from and also makes the session unique to you and your family. This doesn’t have to be complicated (it can be as easy as throwing on a hat or a wrap) and there are ideas in the guide to help you.
Often what you wear depends on your chosen location – light colours work well with light backgrounds (indoors on a white bed cover, at the beach, sandstone backdrops etc) and darker colours often work better in outdoor locations such as parks and greenery and urban locations etc.
Where Should We Hold Our Shoot?
Baby photography often works well indoors at home where is it relaxed and comfortable and convenient. Your home does not need to be something out of Vogue – the rooms just need to have good natural light.
For older children and family photography, location shoots tend to work better, more room to run around and explore! Beach sessions work well for early morning or early evening shoots before/after it is too hot and crowded; urban locations are great for lots of colours and textures and I just love wharf locations for the gorgeous muted background tones that go with all wardrobe choices!
So choose your home or your favourite scenic location for your photo shoot, or I can suggest locations if you prefer. You would be surprised at the great images you can get in your backyard or in the street outside your home, so don’t worry if you don’t have a harbour side location close to you!
How Soon Do I Need To Book?
Sessions are held on Fridays and Saturdays, in the mornings and afternoons – the actual session time depends really on the age of the child, their sleeping patterns, the chosen location, and of course the best lighting conditions. Sessions are typically booked 2-4 weeks in advance. Given that Saturday is the only weekend date available, these dates tend to book out the most quickly.
You can see all available Sydney photoshoot dates here.
If you need the images for a particular date, keep in mind that you will receive you gallery to view 2 weeks after your session. Once you have decided on your images and your payment has been received, it will take 2-4 weeks to receive your products depending on what you have ordered.
