Last weekend I had breakfast with my mum and dad and they were asking where they should go for a holiday after they head over to Ireland this year.
Dad was thinking somewhere in Europe but his comment was “not hot enough” and I was trying to think of somewhere I have been that was
- easy to get to;
- hot enough; and
- had all the mod cons that mum and dad would need and want.
(aka any of the suggestions from my 3 month European caravanning adventure in 2004 were probably were off the cards!)
Then it hit me! They would be flying Emirates via Dubai to get to Ireland – AND it’s on the way home to break up their trip – AND would be one to tick off the bucket list for them…
I had the perfect location for them – the Maldives.
I went to show my holiday photos from my luxurious 10 days at Iru Fushi Maldives in 2013 and realised… I. Had. Never. Taken. Them. Off. The. Computer.
They have been sitting on the computer in RAW files. Unedited. Unseen. Unloved. For nearly 3 years! (this is what happens when your hobby becomes your business – it’s like the cleaner’s house never being cleaned or the accountant’s books never being balanced – we put our businesses and our clients needs first and our personal stuff gets put on the “do later” list.)
So today I am sharing with you absolutely nothing to do with children at all… instead just beautiful inspiring photographs of one of the luxurious places I have been and will definitely go back to.
It was on my bucket list so I thought it might be on yours too. Enjoy!
It started with a seaplane from Malé…
The seaplane drops you here….
I booked a beach bungalow….
My private walkway to the beach…
The outdoor bathroom, complete with spa was decadent…
I went in July which was low season – there were a couple of cloudy days but still warm and about 28 degrees every day.
This was where I spent my days…
I got invited to a cocktail party where I met the general manager who upgraded me to a water bungalow for free!
The provide snorkels in the wardrobes – you swim and snorkel straight off your balcony.
Mine was the furthest one out!
The breakfast restaurant is on the other side of the island… so this is how you get around (if you don’t feel like walking 15 mins!)
I got taken out for dinner…
The adults only pool. With no wifi service so you HAVE to switch off and relax.
And then it was time to go again….
Are you inspired to go now too? You should!
I have soooo many unseen images like this on my computer – I am thinking of maybe creating a store where you can purchase prints of all the places I’ve travelled to like this…. Good idea?
Beginner Bootcamp has just ended and I am so proud of how my students’ photography has improved and transformed!
They are in the process of submitting images for a contest which will open on Saturday – stay tuned for that – you can vote for your favourite and could win your own place in Beginner Bootcamp, and finally learn how to use your camera on the manual settings (it’s really not that complicated!).
Have a great rest of your week :)
